A New Era: Collaborate & Innovate
Dear Friends,
For the past three years, our region and its board have worked hard on our mission to collaborate and integrate with the greater Unity movement, which resulted in two major innovations in addition to many smaller efforts:
We provided a starting capital of $20,000 to UWM to establish their Loaves & Fishes fund.
We funded the first year of UWM's virtual YFM Curriculum with a $12,000.
Both of these investments have and continue to support our entire movement and well beyond our regional influence. At the last board meeting/retreat, the board of trustees decided to continue to seek opportunities to invest in the growth and wealth of Unity worldwide.
Innovation Fund
During our meeting/retreat last Tuesday, the board decided to put even more attention to our regional needs, starting with the newly introduce innovation fund that will inspired the financial support of innovative ideas within our region that could potentially serve the movement overall. We are still working out the details. So, stay tuned for more information to come.
Additionally, as a result of shifting our focus toward regional innovations among the many other services we already provide, the board decided to slightly adjust our mission from Collaborate & Integrate to Collaborate & Innovate to reflect the current board's vision for the near and long-term future.
New Board
Please take a moment and hold our new board of trustees in prayer for a new season after a soon-to-be-over pandemic era:
Rev. Jean-Marie Schweizer (President & Regional Representative)
Rev. David Howard (Vice-President)
Rev. Gordon Keyler (Secretary & YFM Representative)
Rev. Tomas De Leon (Treasurer)
Linda Gillispie, LUT (LUT Representative)
DEIJ Representative
We are also in the process of defining a new representative position: the DEIJ Representative. This position will fulfill our commitment to address Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity, and Justice (DEIJ) concerns within our region and our worldwide movement. This position will be filled with a newly appointed board member to complete our board with six members for the time being. Our new nominating committee will be activated accordingly to search for suitable candidates. Stay tuned for related announcements.
New Administration
Please also welcome our new administrator, Lane Smith, who is taking over from our interim administrator, Elaine Schweizer. Our thanks go to Elaine, who stepped in when we needed immediate assistance. Finally, our gratitude continues to surround our remaining staff, including Rev. Toni Boehm (Ministry Consultant), and Julie Core (YFM Consultant), and Rev. Scott Shell (accountant). Without the support of these incredible individuals, we would not be able to support you in the many ways we do.
Stay tuned for more exciting and uplifting opportunities to partake in our increased awareness of the Goodness we share into our world.
With many blessings,
Unity South Central Region
President of the Board
